Founder & Medical Director | Foundational Medicine

Brett J. Earl, MD

Dr. Brett J. Earl is the Founder and Medical Director of Denali Specialty Clinic and the creator of Foundational Medicine — a framework built on a simple but powerful shift in how we think about chronic illness. He received his Medical Degree from the University of Nevada, Reno, and is a Board Certified Emergency Physician with over 17 years of experience in emergency medicine, including roles as a Life Flight Helicopter Physician and Tactical Physician for the Toledo, Ohio SWAT team. He serves as lead scientific and research consultant for multiple companies, continuously researching innovative care methods and training other providers in Foundational Medicine principles.

After 16 years in emergency medicine — witnessing both the brilliance and the hard limitations of traditional Western medicine — Dr. Earl began asking a different kind of question. Not what is the diagnosis, but why is this happening. That shift led him deeper into functional medicine, and eventually to the development of his own framework: Foundational Medicine.

That conviction was forged not just in clinical practice, but through his own life. A health crisis that conventional medicine could not explain brought him to the edge of his life, with physicians calculating his probability of death at greater than 85 percent. It was only when he stopped searching for a diagnosis and started searching for the root cause that he found his way back. That experience — of being a physician failed by his own system — gave him an understanding of chronic illness that no textbook could provide, and a commitment to his patients that is deeply personal.

Foundational Medicine is not a new label or a new specialty. It is a new question: instead of what is the diagnosis, it asks what are the upstream causes? What set this in motion, and what is the body trying to resolve? This philosophy shapes everything about how Dr. Earl practices — treating the body not as a collection of isolated parts to be managed separately, but as a profoundly interconnected system that breaks down for identifiable, addressable reasons. His clinical approach centers on what he calls the 7 Triggers of All Disease, combining energy, chemical, and mechanical healing modalities to restore health from the root up.

His knowledge base is intentionally broad — spanning traditional prescriptives and injections to supplements, gut health, breast health, pelvic health, RENU 02 regenerative therapies, and energy work — because he believes that real healing rarely lives in just one lane. His goal is always the same: restore health, prevent illness, and avoid prescriptions and surgeries wherever possible.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Earl serves in his local church and is devoted to his wife and family — including six children and three grandchildren, whom he cherishes. He lives on a farm where he raises cattle, chickens, pigs, and, as he puts it, patience. When he isn’t with his family or his animals, he is almost certainly researching something.
